First Pony Ride Layout by Chris

The background is painted Caspian Sea Glimmer Glam on  the back of a piece of decorative paper that I just knew I would never use. The photo does not do the glimmer justice. It absolutely GLIMMERS!

I mounted a 5x7 photo on Echo Park’s Country Drive paper and used my Perfect Layers ruler at ¼ inch, distressed with the Zutter Distrezz-It, and inked with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. Another strip—yellow—was cut at 2.25x8.5 inches, inked with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, and partially layered under the photo mat.

I made my own Washi Tape using the paper towel I had under my glimmer mist backgrounds project. I peeled apart the layers and backed it with Scor Tape, ripped off a piece, and voila—washi tape. (Great way to recycle, not lose a bit of glimmer mist, and get creative color combinations!) Along the top of the photo is a decorative edge (also from the background paper I had made a few weeks ago) cut with Spellbinders Shapeabilities Banner Basics Two.  I also cut a set of the larger banners and trimmed one off and edged it also with Peacock Feathers. The letters are from Echo Park and from my stash.

The best part of this simple layout is the Stkr.it card, which is coming soon to the Cutters Creek Store. Keep a look out for it and if you got one of the samples Kim gave out, play with it. It is so easy to do and adds a special touch to your cards or LOs. To see what is on my Stkr.it card you can either scan with your smart phone if you have the Stkr.it app, or you can go to the site: http://stkr.it/#home and enter the code that’s written below the scan square. Once you do you should see a short clip of Quinn riding the pony.

I think I am in love with this product and will be trying it out on a few other pieces. To make it was also easy. You just need to enter the code that’s on the Stkr.it you are going to use and follow the directions. It was so easy to do.

Hello Kitty by Tee

Hello Kitty made her first appearance in 1974 which in the same year the sitcom Happy Days first went on the air. I found it fitting to make this project using the Hello Kitty cricut cartridge and the Echo Park Happy Days collection.

I cut out the Hello Kitty imagine using black cardstock at 5”, repeated using the blackout feature in both black cardstock and Retro patterned paper. I then cut the inside of the car and wheels using Bottle Caps patterned paper . Hello Kitty, her bow, steering wheel, inside of the wheels is cut with cardstock. I used a rhinestone for the headlight and stickles on her bow and the lines on the pink patterned paper (Bottle Caps).

I wanted my car to be 3D so I could add a gift before I gave it to my niece. To do that, I cut a piece of black cardstock at 9x4 – scored using my Scor Buddy at an ½” on each side and scored at 2” and 7” as seen in this picture. I then cut notches to make it easier to fold.

I folded the box and glued with Scotch Quick Dry in place as you see here.

I glued the black of the car on lining the black cardstock up just above the wheels. Then I glued on the front panel.

Hello Kitty’s car needed a license plate so I used the tab HELLO and the black letters KITTY from the Alpha Stickers that come in the Happy Days collection then added a bow for to finish it off.

Hope you liked my Hello Kitty project and bring you a Happy Day.

Cutters Creek Echo Park Blog Hop!

Hello and Welcome to the Cutters Creek Design Team Blog Hop! Today's hop features one of our favorite paper companies, Echo Park Paper! Each member of the Cutters Creek Design Team has created special projects using some of our favorite collections from Echo Park! When you are done checking out Chris' beautiful project here you will hop on over to Mandie's Blog and there you will find the link to the next blog in the chain!

Do one Layout, Get 1 (almost) Free by Chris

Looking at the Echo Park paper and knowing I needed to do a new baby LO, I chose two sheets, one from the Country Drive collection kit and one from the Victoria Gardens collection kit. I wanted a split background so I cut both sheets four inches from the top. I flipped one sheet and lined the two up again. Now using my Scor Tape and cream seam tape I glued the two pieces back together. Flipping the paper over, I repeated the process using a piece of red ribbon. Now, to decorate.

I used SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot software) to create a looped mat using some borders and corners shared online. The inside of the mat is approximately 5x7 inches and fits my photo perfectly. Before adhering the photo with Scor Tape, I raided my mom’s sewing stash and glued the lace trim along the bottom. Finally, I took a Tim Holtz Memo Pin and an Adage Ticket and pushed it into the top left corner, spray glued the back of the mat and adhered the mat to the background.

I used my printer to print the text on cream CS and used the Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Ten set to cut both out. Both got inked with Spun Sugar Distress Ink. I saw this button trim on a card online and decided to “lift it” for this LO. So I trimmed off the top of the smaller label and carefully marked where it would line up with the larger background one. I then glued down some buttons with Glossy Accents, punched the holes with my Tim Holtz Craft Pick and used embroidery floss to sew the buttons on. After gluing this down, I put some pop up dots under the smaller label and lined it up to the buttons and the end of the larger label. To finish off the journaling box I added three pearls to the top loops.

For the bottom of the picture I again cut another Labels Ten and added three small homemade roses, but you certainly could use the Cutters Creek Brand Flowers and color them any color you wish. To finish the page I again took my Glossy Accents and made some dewdrops on the handmade roses and the printed roses in the corner.

Now, of course I have a blank canvas on the other side—well, not so blank any more. Here’s the LO for that side. The EP paper is the background and the Title is a sticker from Victoria Gardens. Everything else is from my stash and I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Ovals and Scalloped Ovals for the title. I must admit I am an avid scanner of page sketches and PageMaps these days. It helps me pull everything together so quickly.

Tutorial Tuesday - Glimmer Mist with Mandie

Hey, Everyone! I'm back with another fun Glimmer Mist Tutorial! I've decided to extend the deadline for the contest until Kim and I return from CHA... so the winner will be announced on Friday February 4th. So you have an extra week to add the link with your blog post to any of the Tutorial Tuesday posts (just add it as a comment)! So have you enjoyed this month's Tutorial Tuesdays? Any comments or suggestions for products you would like to see in the future? Next month we will be showcasing a favorite.... Stickles! And leading up to Valentine's Day we will be featuring some Valentine's Day projects, so make sure you check back often... and a little birdie told me there *might* be another challenge next month so get your Stickles ready!

Ok, on to today's project! You don't have to do any fancy masking techniques or anything to have fun with Glimmer Mist... I began this project with a piece of plain White Cardstock!

I sprayed my cardstock with a few squirts of the Meadow Green Glimmer Mist. Here's a fun tip... if you want more of a *mist* look, hold it farther away and spray quickly while keeping your hand moving. For a more *raindrop* look, hold the bottle closer and don't move it much. And remember to shake the heck out of it to prevent the sprayer from clogging.

I kind of dabbed the green a bit with my paper towel and then added Purple Pansy Glimmer Mist. Notice my Bazzill Splat Mat behind my paper to protect my desk. It is non-stick and heat resistant so you don't have to worry about scorching your desk while you are drying your paper with your Heat Gun!

Here's a look at both colors after I dried them with my heat gun.

Next I added some white paint to the edge of my 5" x 7" photo and my 6" x 8" photo mat. I just used my Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers Bottle in Snow Cap and swipped it along the edges. Then I let it dry for a few and then dabbed more paint around it. Just layer until it looks the way you want it to. I sent them in front of the space heater under my desk to dry.... just don't use a heat gun... you don't want the paint to bubble.

I wanted to add a little Bling to my page and for some reason I needed a circular element so I cut a 10 1/2" circle and then folded in until I had these segments. Then I laid it on my background hanging off slightly and make little paper marks at the segments. I decided to add some rhinestones with my i-rock tool. You could also use Twinkle Jewels or the Kaisercraft Rhinestones! I was feeling lazy and didn't want to get up to grab my Twinkle Jewels, LOL!

Here's a look at some of the rhinestones. The white spots are the ones I decided to remove because they would be behind my photo.... you can also see the Scor Tape that I added to attach my ribbon. After I took this photo I decided I needed more bling so I used the same circle and lined up the spokes in between the jewels and made my marks again.

I added my title cut from the Robotz Cricut cartridge at 1 1/2" and my black and white polka dot ribbon. But I felt like it still needed something....

So I grabbed the closest White Flower. I love the Color Me Crazy flowers because they are made to color! Use your Glimmer Mist, Copics, Stickles... what ever you want!

Notice I REALLY soaked this flower. I wanted a really deep purple!

I added a couple of other flowers and a button from my stash...

...and add little journaling. And NOW I feel like my layout is complete! The photo is of our daughter Penny when she was two "driving" her Daddy's Mustang. She is still in love with his car!

I hope you enjoyed our last week of Glimmer Mist! Don't forget to grab your mists and enter our challenge to WIN more Glimmer Mist :)
