Castle Card by Chris

Template designed by “A Path of Paper”, svg created by “Denise’s Scrapbooking Room”, and card decorated and played with by me! This was so much fun and so perfect for my granddaughter. I used tons of scraps and loads of goodies from Cutters Creek.

I love how the Pow Glitter Paper just glimmers as the roof and as the name-tag base. The name-tag was cut with my ebosser (yes I got one and it works beautifully). I used Spellbinders Shapeabilitie: Fancy Labels Two that I further glitzed with Nestabling. The flowers are from my stash, but they have a touch of glam—Times Square Glitter Glam that is! It was one of the clubs choices, and I think I’ve fallen in love with it.

The flower centers and turrets are decorated with I-Rock Glams. Outlines of the turrets and different stripes are all stickles: Orange Peel, Silver, Thistle, and Aqua. Another Spellbinders Shapeabilitie—Parisian Accents—backs the numeral 6, which is embossed with silver and trimmed in I-Rocks. The sentiment page is doodled with Gel pens. The mat is inked with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and the stamp is perfect pearls on versamark. But the surprising elements (at least for me) are the new Deco Stickers from Ecstasy that edge the sentiment mat. They don’t look like much on the sheet, but when you peel them off and lay them on the page, there is a bit of dimension and color. I am so glad I ordered these in every color!

If there is something I’ve used and you don’t see it in the store, be sure to contact Kim. She always tries to help out and can point you in the right direction or maybe, special order something for you. Have a great day.

Magnolia Card by Mindy

Isn't this such a cute image. Did you know that  Cutters Creek now carries Magnolia stamps . For my card I used a Magnolia stamp,  Spellbinder Nestabilities- circle, scalloped circle, and labels 4, stickles on her wings, and dew drops on the bubbles. Tilda is colored with Copic markers of course.

Melissa's Miss Anya

So, I decided to try again with a purple colored card.  I think this one went a little smoother :o)  I started with one of the images from the Miss Anya Dressy Collection - -I love these images by The Greeting Farm!  I also stamped it on a post it so I could stamp the leaves and flowers without worrying about my image being ruined.

I colored my image with my copics and used B000 and G0000 to blend in the background as sky and grass - - just very light colors, but enough to show the white edges on the Curved Rectangle where is was embossed.  The background paper is from Prima Reflections and I used different papers in the collection for the butterflies as well.

Hope you like it!!

Sandi’s Christmas Card

I love the look of this card; it was easy to create with a simple layering effect and looks great. Simply create your card base from green cardstock. Use the Corner Chomper to round all 4 corners. Emboss the white cardstock with the Tim Holtz Snow Flurries Embossing Folder and use decorative scissors to make a border. Adhere this to your base with Tombow Mono Adhesive. Next use the Lace Punch to create a border strip and adhere. Cut a large green circle and a smaller white circle with the Spellbinder Scallop Circles Set. Stamp "Tis the Season" on the white circle with the Justrite Stamper 1 5/8 . Layer with Pop Dots and adhere. I left the inside blank so I can personalize each one.

Trick or Treat? by Laura C.

There is no trick to making these adorabletreats! You can use this idea to dress up any type of flat candy bar!

These instructions are for a Hershey's chocolate bar.  Cut a 5 & 1/2" by 5 & 1/2" piece of paper or thin cardstock.  I used a green stripe and plain black from my stash.  Wrap the paper around the candy bar, secure it with a line of adhesive.  Now for the fun part!!  The "Happy Halloween" was printed off my computer on white cardstock and then trimmed to 2 & 1/2 x 3/4".  I used a foam applicator to apply distress ink (Tim Holtz) with a bit of the color pumice stone on there first, then loaded it with bundled sage and applied it to the cardstock (do this by using  a swirling motion that starts OFF the cardstock and work your way onto the cardstock--this tip is from the man himself at Scrapfest!). Then I mounted this on a 2 & 3/4 x 1" piece of the striped paper.  The piece underneath is cut  out of purple cardstock with the new labels 14 from Spellbinders and I used a thin line of glossy accents around the edge and sprinkled that with the new Suze Weinburg Beadazzles in Salsa.  Once dry, I pop dotted the Happy Halloween to the purple "bedazzed" piece, and finished it off....a strip of ribbon (you could use cardstock!) and glue dots to attach the Happy Halloween piece.

The spider "treat" is made with the same base size, and I used cuttlebug folders for the embossed pieces which were enhanced with Tim Holtz inks in rusty hinge with a little bundled sage added on the web (which was trimmed to 2" x 5"). The spider from the A2 "boo to you" folder, was cut out with a 1 & 1/4" punch and then mounted on a 1 & 1/2" circle of black cardstock. It was outlined with lime green stickles.

Love this idea for a child's classroom, or party favors, or even a special "treat" for a special someone!

This fall, have fun with something new like these awesome blendable inks, from Tim Holtz or Suze Weinburg Beadazzles!  Kim has so many wonderful fun goodies in her store!!  So go ahead, step out of your crafting comfort zone, grab something new and then go and play!!

Oriental Weave Card by Sandi

When I received this Cuttlebug embossing folder -Oriental Weave  from Kim I knew just what I wanted to do.  I used colored cardstock with a white core center, which I lightly sanded to bring out the core.  I thought it looked oriental, so I searched for an appropriate stamp design and added dimension by using Super Fine Gold Embossing Power. I stamped it twice the second on red card stock and used only  the center  flower  to create more dimension and completed it by placing a Kaisercraft  Pearls in the center.  Behind the image I placed a Spellbinders Scallop Frame on a slightly different green cardstock  and again I sanded it to bring out the white core.  I cut four small flowers using a Cricut cartridges and covered them with Gold Stickles. After they dried I glued clear Twinkle Jewels (skittles) to  the centers.  I finished the card with an oriental looking patterned ribbon.

Beach Babe by Laura C.

I love summer, don't you?? This card is a sunny way to say hi, happy birthday, just about anything!

The base is chocolate brown in standard 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I layered on a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Core'dnations from the Vintage "Flower Power" collection. The sweet little girl is from the "Lily at the Beach" Pink Cat Studio collection. She's colored with Copics, and I added some Inkssentials Glossy Accents to her goggles.

And guess what?? Flower Soft isn't just for flowers!!

Polar White Flower Soft is the "white caps" on the waves with a touch of Ice Stickles in "Arctic Ice" to add a bit of bling! Last, a bit of ribbon from my stash, and the sentiment (from the Lily collection, too!) stamped in black Memento ink on a tag made with the "Fancy Tags" Spellbinder die.

Hope you enjoy this fun summer card!

Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Oriental Weave All Occassion Card by Chris

Here’s my second project with another Cuttlebug embossing folder. This time I used the bamboo shoots from the Oriental Weave set. I started out thinking this would be a thank you card (and it still could), but I decided to leave the inside blank. Sometimes I just need a card with a quote that just speaks to me at the moment. When I came across the Kahlil Gibran saying on the internet, I knew I wanted to use it and felt it was perfect with the serenity of the bamboo.

I used Core’dinations again (I just love the two for one colors of these papers), ran a 5x7 piece through my cuttlebug and then sanded the image. I used SCAL and my gelpens to write the sentiment. I kept fiddling with how to put the saying on the card. Initially, I was using green Core’dinations paper and I tried using my gel pens right on the Core’dinations, but it didn’t show up enough. I tried a rectangular piece of cardstock on top of the Core’dinations and didn’t like that either when a brainstorm struck. I used my Deckled Small Rectangles and reverse cut the leaves of the bamboo so they would spill over the opening, which would frame the sentiment. To cut the leaves I used my Fiskars fingertip control knife and the healing cutting mat on my ScorPal; then I wedged the deckle nestability under the leaves (cutting edge facing away from them) and ran through my cuttlebug.

The sentiment was “cut” on green copier paper. I glued the embossed cardstock over the sentiment and trimmed the paper. Next I cut white cardstock 10x7, scored at 5 inches and inked the edges (inside and out) and the fold line with Weathered Wood distress ink. All that was left to do was mount the card front with my ATG, stamp the back of the card with one of Image Tree’s “made bys” and glued a 6.5x9.5 piece of beige copier paper into the card. Not necessary, but I just feel this gives a more finished look to some cards.

Asian Inspired Birthday Card by Chris

I have several embossing folders and hardly ever use them. So, I challenged myself to put them to good use on upcoming projects. Here I’ve made a birthday card for my DIL, using the cherry blossoms from the Plum Blossom set.

I love to work with smaller A2 cards so put my A2 template down. Using my planning template, I pulled out my scraps and started laying pieces until I found a combination I liked--Core’dinations and a floral print. (I keep handy a set of white cardstock cut to different card sizes (just the front—4.25x5.5, 4x4, 5x7,etc) to use as planning templates when laying out a card. I just find this an easy way to fiddle around and not worry about marking up the final card base.) I cut the floral scrap to 2x4.25 and the Core’dinations to 3x4.25. I ran the Core’dinations through my Cuttlebug and sanded. Using my ATG, I glued the pieces next to each other on a white card base.

Digging into my ribbon stash, I found a quarter inch ecru ribbon, which I adhered with ScorTape. The card was looking a bit too blah for me, so I pulled out my various cricut cartridges and searched for a flower that would set off the embossed side and repeat the image of the cherry blossom. I found it on the Home Décor cartridge and cut it out of a pink scrap at 2.5 inches.

I found the sentiment on the internet and then decided to use SCAL and gelpens to write it on Prism Ivory cardstock. I then used Labels 10 Nestabilities to cut around the sentiment and make a shadow of it. I then edged the labels using the cricut color markers and mounted the sentiment with popup dots on the shadow and the whole label over the ribbon. An Asian all occasion card—wow, just imagine the possibilities.

Springtime Thank You by Laura C.

This is a super simple card with just enough bling to make it special!

It's a standard 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" card base in sage green cardstock. The white is a 4x5 piece of bazzill white embossed in the cuttlebug with the swiss dot folder. I trimmed this embossed piece to a 4 3/4" length. This piece of embossed white was cut into two pieces, one 2" and one 1 3/8".
took a 1" x 4 3/4" scrap of pink cardstock and punched one edge with a lace punch. I layered this by adhering the pink cardstock to the underside of larger white piece, and then adhering the smaller white piece under the lace edge of the pink. To make the flower, it's just the spellbinders standard circles large using white cardstock and classic scallop circles large using pink cardstock. I stamped a little "thanks" in pink on the white circle, then inked the edges with an olive green ink. The stem is a thin piece of the sage green cardstock and the leaves are hand cut from the american crafts glitter paper. The flower was assembled, the white "thanks" piece pop dotted for some texture, and the final touch is some pretty bling!

This is a quick but beautiful way to tell someone thank you!

Laura's Not So Happily Ever After

Sometimes we have pictures of those we loved in the past, but the romance didn't work out. The stories are part of our lives, and I think they should be scrapped, too. That was the case with this wedding photo. I had taken the picture out of the frame on my desk, but I didn't want to throw it away. It was beautiful. There were good and bad memories attached, so I decided the personal journaling needed to be hidden.

To start with I created a pocket on the back of the page using Scor-Tape around the two sides and bottom of the paper I chose (I used some scrap card stock since it wouldn't be seen). Next I used my Storybook Cricut Cartridge to cut out my title in and the shadow. Since my card stock was thick, I used the high pressure with the slow setting. I find this works best when cutting intricate items. I also cut my heart accent and shadow using the same cartridge. They may be hard to see, but I also cut some random marquee cuts from the Storybook cartridge to use behind my photo.

I really wanted a vintage, layered effect to capture the romance of that day.

Next I cut some random scalloped circles using Nestabilities and Spellbinders Dies. I wanted, again, a variety to obtain my layered effect. I inked the edges of each using my Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Rose and Tea Dye. They were so easy to soften using my blending tool and some scraps of flannel material.

I cut a square piece of card stock for my "notebook" page approximately 5" x 7". I punched the border to mimic a notebook page torn out and inked the edges again using Tim Holtz Distress Inks to give it a vintage feel.

I raided my great-grandmother's and grandmother's button boxes for ribbon, lace, tulle, and of course buttons. I prepared my paper flowers using self-adhesive rhinestones from Cutter's Creek in ice blue, yellow/green, and soft pink.

I cut my butterfly from printed card stock. I layered two together to get the dimensional effect using my Zig Two Way Glue Pen. I added in self-adhesive pearls in champagne to complete the look. The edges were tipped with Diamond Stickles.

To make the paper clip accent over my photo, I layered two small Nestabilities scalloped circles over a paper clip. I held them in place using a 1/2" Glue Dot. I chalked the edges using my Pebbles Shimmers Chalk. I attached two paper flowers using 3/8" Glue Dots and then added my self adhesive rhinestone center.

I also used the Pebbles Shimmers Chalks to accent my cut-outs. I really wanted a sparkly yet slightly vintage feel to the layout.

My photo is 5"x7". I cut the green card stock mat 5.5" x 7.5 inches. I punched my photo corners, and adhered my photo using my Glue Arts Permanent Glue "gun". I used my Zig 2 Way Glue Pen to affix my heart and title die cuts to their shadows. Next. I began layering my card stock pieces, Nesties cuts, laces, ribbons and tulle using my Glue Arts Glue Gun. I placed my photo and mat on the page using my Glue Arts Gun, and then I added my sewing trims around the photo mat using my Zig 2 Way Glue Pen. I affixed my flowers and buttons using my 3/8" & 1/2 " Glue Dots. I slid my paper clip accent over the photo mat and held it in place using a 1/2" Glue Dot.

Lastly, I added my title and heart cut outs using my Zig 2 Way Glue Pen. My final touch was the butterfly using a 3/8" Glue Dot.

I always change and use the adhesives that best suit my project and materials. The Zig Pen, Glue Arts Adhesives and Glue Dots are my favorite stand-bys for almost any project.

Lastly I typed out my story of how my marriage didn't end so happily ever after, but the day itself was wonderful and so memorable at the time. I did reminisce a bit about how we have such hopes and dreams one day, and how our lives can change in an instant. Since the journaling was so personal, I hid it in the pocket behind. I added ribbon to be able to pull the journaling up to read. You can see it at the top of the layout.
