Lea's Sweet Country Christmas Tag

I think that everyone is fully aware that Christmas is coming. Everyone...that is...except my 2 yr. old. She just turned two and the whole Christmas thing is something that she just doesn't quite get yet. SO, in an effort to get her excited and teach her about my favorite holiday, we have been watching tons of old school christmas movies. Shows like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Jack Frost, and (of course!) Frosty the Snowman. And not the shiny new version, the old almost "clay-mation" movies that I remember from growing up in the 80's! It's been fantastic!

That is exactly what I think about when I see this super cute tag that Lea has created for us! Classic Christmas! She has used all the classic elements of the Holiday Season to create a project that will still be cute no matter what year the calendar says it is! I love how she has mixed stamping, Copics and her Cricut to create a piece that anyone would love to have waiting for them on Christmas morning.

The Snowman stamp by Inkadinkado (don't you just LOVE that name?!?!) gives a very polished look to the tag, but is still simple enough that a beginner stamper wouldn't be intimidated to give it a try. Notice how Lea has used her Copics to accentuate not only the edges of the Snowman, but also what would normally be just forgotten white space. It's a simple element to add, but it goes a long way in giving the card a polished and finished look.

Lea's Winter Rose

I just love the mix of hard and soft elements that Lea has used to create this beautiful card! She is using her natural artistic eye to create a cohesive piece from seemingly unrelated individual facets. The pink on the tip of the rose and the pink of the ribbon match perfectly and really work to make the color "POP" and draw the eye straight to the focal point.

To create this piece Lea has called on several different elements and mediums. The first is her fantastic use of Copics! I have to tell you that the longer I work with the Design Team, the more excited I get about using these markers. Never before have I seen a marker that blends as easily as a chalk, yet gives a permanent velvety smooth finish. They are fantastic! Honestly if you try one you'll be hooked forever!

Look closely at the detail on the leaf. The shading done here is accomplished by coloring the area of the leaf with a medium toned Copic in green. Then, with a darker shade from the same color family, Lea went back through to shade her work and give it depth. The accents on the berries are done using another popular Copic product, the Copic Spica. Spica pens are like Copics, but they are PACKED with bling. Wendy - Whimsical Winter Wonderland!

When I first saw this card it made me think about being little and growing up in Alaska. We use to hear all of these stories about how no two snowflakes were alike, and that was a theory that we often put to the test. My cousin and I would RUN outside like crazy people and try to catch as many snowflakes as we possibly could and then run back to each other to see if any matched up. Of course, they always melted before any real comparison could be made. But, in that brief moment before they became nothing more than a tiny speck of water on the sleeve of our far-too-big snow suit, they were beautiful.

Wendy has created this card using techniques that are as delicate as they are beautiful. Her elements of airbrushing, bling and shading all work in harmony to form a cohesive and finished piece that is very ascetically pleasing. First, if you look closely at the little girl perched on her swing, you will see that she has quite a bit of depth and dimension for a 2-D line figure. This comes directly from careful shading with the fantastic Copic markers.

Never used Copics? Never fear! Wendy may be a pro, but I can promise you that I am

brand new. In fact, I picked up my very first Copics TODAY and used them for the first time. I had honestly thought that they would be just like any other marker, but I WAS WRONG. The ink glides on to the page in such a way that it blends together without the stark lines that are often inherent with marker use. I'm telling you ladies, don't be afraid of these little beauties. They have the power to change the way you craft from now on. Plus, as Copics can be used on so many different mediums, and in so many different ways, the options are truly endless.

This piece is rounded out with careful detailing to really make the image pop off of the page. Look at the Kaisercraft Rhinestones that mark the center of the snowflake as well as the tips of her hair. They help to naturally draw the eye to the focal point and capture your attention. The best part? Kaisercraft Rhinestones are self-adhesive! So all you have to do is peel and stick. CuttersCreek carries a large variety of Kaisercraft, including both pearls and rhinestones. I highly recommend keeping several options on hand as they are an extremely quick way to add a bit of class to any project that you are working on.

Fun with Flower Soft!

For many crafters, winter is a time of great inspiration. With colder weather forcing many of us indoors for the season, this is the time to curl up with a nice hot cup of something yummy and dig into projects that have been put off for far too long.

This is exactly what came to mind when I first saw these two beautiful cards that Lisa has put together for us! At first glance, they seem quite simple, but as you look closer, you will see how all of the small details work together to form a creation that is quite lovely!

Not only do you have the freedom to choose the color that best fits with your work, but you can also choose from different shapes and textures. Cutters Creek Design Team Announced!!

I first want to apologize to all the entrants, as Cutters Creek has been slamming busy (a good thing) and I needed to take some time to spend with my family on Thanksgiving, as my daughter and her husband flew in from MN and my daughter in law and grand daughter drove up from NC and I was the one in charge of entertaining and meal making. So unfortunately, matters that were less pressing when to the back burner and boy was this a hard decision! I want to say all of your work was absolutely lovely and I had decided to pick between 4-8 people. Well as the decision got harder and harder, I decided to go with 8!!
