One Layer Card by Fran

I love watching You Tube videos and one of my favorite card makers is Kristin Werner.  I just love her style.  Not long ago she made a Birthday card that I fell in love with and I just had to scrap lift it.  My card by no means looks as good as her card but I think I did a fairly good job.  If you like to watch the video on how she made the card  you can view it here:
Friday Focus–Birthday Card # 8 by Kristin Werner
I never was one to use white dashed lines on my cards but I thought this one really screamed white dashed lines needed.  I went a little further and stamped the inside of the card to match the outside.  I thought it gave it a neat look.  And I like the idea of a one layer card.  So easy to mail too.  Details on my card are below my photos.  In addition, I did not have any white embossing powder so I used WOW Embossing Powder in a Clear Glitter.  So in order to balance out the glitter in the embossing powder I added Stickles Glitter Glue in Star Dust on some of the dots on the flower centers and on some of the small dots throughout the stamped design.  The white dashes balance out the white I used to color in the flowers.

Anna Griffin Birthday Card by Anne

Hi everyone.  This is a birthday card I did for a friend using a few things from Anna Griffin.  The paper is from her 12x12 paper pack, Willow A super fun pack filled with all kinds of blues and blacks to create with.  All of the paper I used here on the card that are shades of black, also come in shades of blue!

And the butterfly is from Anna Griffin as well.  It's part of her 3-D embossed gold sticker pack, called Carmen .

Hope you enjoy the card.  All of the items can be found at the Cutter's Creek store.

Fun with Instagram

I admit I have a slight Instagram obsession I love playing with all the different filters and changing the look of my photos.  I really never knew what to do with them until recently.   I’m determined to try and get back to scrapbooking.  I started as a scrapbooker and then I made some cards and I was hooked. I still take a lot of pictures with the intention of scrapping them, but very few photos ever get printed.  I got an email the other day about printing instagram photos and I had to try it out.  I love the pocket style page protectors by We R Memory Keepers and one of the styles in the pack holds 9 4x4 photos.  This is the perfect size for Instagram prints.  So, I gathered up a few of my favorites and made some layouts.
photo (1)                               photo (2)
The page protector has 9 individual photo pockets and you just drop your prints in.  It couldn’t be easier.  For the layout on the left I added a few blocks of Echo Park paper to give it some pop.  For the layout on the right I added some decorative paper and a journaling block.  I love how easy this was and I’m hooked on this style of scrapbooking.  I can’t wait to add some pictures to rest of the styles that come in the variety pack.

Altered Containers by Ms. Pebbles

Here's an upcycle project for National Earth  Month! These containers are perfect  for holding my smaller, loose embellishments especially once I cant find the original packing anymore! :)

I altered vegetable spread containers, large and small as well as peanut containers.
For the most part I chose to alter them with a theme or color scheme so I could readily know what I have stored inside without having to open every one. :)

With just some card stock, embellishments and sealer, this upcycle project is not only fun but functional as well!

Thanks for looking! :)

Happy Birthday Card by Deanna M

I was watching some youtube videos yesterday and saw a project that someone did using a white card base and a white mat with just a little bit of color added as embellishments. I wanted to try making my own version of that card and this is what I came up with.

My card base is white card stock cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. My card is a portrait card, I cut a white card stock mat 4" X 4" and ran it through my eBosser and embossed it with the Script Texture Cuttlebug embossing folder. I love my eBosser, it does such a wonderful job embossing and die cutting and I love that it is all electric, no cranking to help my white mat stand out from the white card base a bit I laid it on a piece of paper and using my Cool Gray 1 Copic Marker I traced around the outside edge of the mat using the brush tip. This applied a faint line of the light gray marker around the outside edge. I used my Scotch Quick Dry adhesive to adhere my mat to my card base.

Now for my pop of color. I wanted to add a flower to my card and found this one in the Silhouette store. I used the print and cut feature to color it and cut it out. The center of the flower was originally a heart which I didn't want, so I cut a small circle instead. Again, I adhered my layers together with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive. I added my flower to my card front with some Kool-Tak Clear foam adhesives. To finish my flower I used my Buttercup Liquid Pearls to add some tiny pearls around the outer edge of my green flower center. That is what I love about Liquid Pearls, I always have the right color and size of pearl I want because I can make whatever size I need.

Finally I added a White Opal pearl using Liquid Pearls again, in each corner of my mat to help anchor it. My sentiment is stamped in Rose Bud Memento ink. This was a super quick card to put together but I am really happy how it turned out.

Shhhh, It's a Secret....

Well....a Secret Garden, that is!  G45's new Secret Garden
collection is so pretty....beautiful pastels, flowers and
yes, pure vintage gorgeous!  And with spring finally here,
it was easy to be inspired to create a springtime card:

I used the G45 Secret Garden 12x12 pad and did
fussy cutting of the fence, flowers and bird with
it's nest. The seed packet piece was cut from one
of the papers and layered behind the fence, which
was foam taped for dimension.  I alternated foam
taping the flowers or just using Scor Tape to give
the feeling of a bouquet.  It's finished up with
a pretty bow and button tied up with twine.
The friends tag is from the G45 Secret Garden
sticker sheet (Kim can order!)....or there are beautiful
sets of chipboard in the store as well.  The flowers are
all accented with Atyou Spica markers (I used pink,
buttermilk, and silver) and Sakura glaze pens for the
centers and leaves. Remember, Kim can order colors!

Here is a close up, where you can see some
of these details:

Hope you are inspired to do some springtime crafting!
Happy Spring!!

No Foolin' It's New Designers!!!!

The Cutters Creek Design Team is excited to introduce four new designers who are joining our team beginning in April. These are talented ladies and they will be sharing projects throughout this month and are sure they will provide lots of great inspiration to you all. So allow us to introduce to you:

Anne Jang

Hi, my name is Anne Jang, and I have been a crafter for over 15 years.  I really fell in love with scrapbooking when our son Matthew passed away after 9 days, 14 years ago.   Our grief counselor suggested it would be a good way to release some of the pain and emotions we were feeling at the time.  Well I still haven't done any of Matthew’s photos, because to this day they're still hard to look at, but to date I have completed 34 albums.  Mostly for my family, and some "scrap for hire".  I have been happily married to my husband of 16 years and we have12 year old daughter, Sarah.  She is a huge animal lover, and a 4-H'er, and has brought into our lives 2 horses, 2 dogs, and 2 guinea pigs.  I was told a few weeks ago that we were purchasing lamb!!!  A lot of my pages will have Sarah, my family and the animals that go two by two.   When I'm not scrapping I am volunteering at my daughter's school, and working part time for Meals on Wheels.

Cindy Vernon

Hi everyone, I’m Cindy. I live in Southern California with my husband of 8 years. We have a 6 year old son Tyler and a 4 year old daughter Lily. I have worked for the past 13 years as a high school librarian. I have always loved everything crafty and started off as a stamper. I bought my first Cricut, a baby bug, at a Black Friday sale where it sat in the box for almost two years until I got my Gypsy which changed my life.  I have been blogging for almost 5 years and try to find time to craft every day. I love to share and inspire others to craft through my blog and by creating Youtube videos for Cricut lovers. When I am not crafting, I am a baseball and dance mom, taking care of my family and always thinking about my next crafty project!

Jearise Havenga

I am a wife to a wonderful computer geek like myself and a stay at home mom of four: ages ranging from 7 to 28 years old. We now live in Lakeway, Texas but have also lived in Tucson, Arizona, Fredericksburg, Virginia and different parts of Michigan. I started crafting while in Arizona through the card making and scrap booking kits but fell in love with all the different papers out there so decided to try my hand without a kit and have never looked back. I love to do all things paper and am up to trying new crafting things. One thing I want to try so badly but am afraid to is sewing. I worry I won't cut or sew the line straight and will ruin what I'm making. Give me paper, scissors, glue and bling and turn me loose and life is good!

Michele Inclan

I live in Pomona, Ca. I work for the school district for about 18 years now and I am going back to school to get my Masters In Forensic Psychology. I love making cards and 3-d projects. I will try layouts but it is challenging for me. I like to learn new things and will try something but if I can not get it then I will stop.

I hope you will join the Design Team in welcoming our new members, Please take a moment to visit their personal blogs and check out their awesome work, And please watch for the projects to start posting soon on the Design Team blog!!!!

In addition to welcoming four new designers, we are saying good-bye to two of our current designers, Tee Angel and Laura Cox. Tee leaves us as of March 31st and Laura will leave us at the end of April. We will miss these two talented ladies but wish them well with their future plans. And, who knows, you just might see them for a return visit on occasion, perhaps as a guest designer.
