Masculine Card by Guest Designer Gloria

We all know how hard masculine cards are to make, well Gloria makes it look easy with this great masculine card,  perfect for the upcoming Father's Day, or a man's birthday, or as Gloria has done, a thinking of you card.

Hello Everyone!  I am to pleased to be a guest designer for Cutter’s Creek.  I do believe this is my first time.  Thanks so much for having me here today!

I want to share this gate fold card with you.  It is not the traditional gate fold but one that I found on YouTube.   I would call this an off center gate fold.  Don’t you just love that YouTube?  Papers for the card are all from my stash.

To make this card start with a card base cut at 5 1/2" X 8 1/2". Score the base at 2 1/2"  and 6 3/4". Fold both scorelines toward the center of the card. Using a bone folder make sure you get a really good crease. This will give you a gate fold card with the left front panel being 2 1/2" wide and the right front panel being 1 3/4" which results in a slightly off center gate.

Next you can add your decorative panels to the card base. Your left panel is cut at 2 1/4" X 5 1/4" and the right panel is cut at 1 1/2" X 5 1/4". Mine are the brown card stock pieces.

The piece that goes on the front is cut at 3 X 4 3/4" for the base mat and 2 3/4" X 4 1/2" for the decorative mat. For my decorative mat, I stamped a piece of plain cardstock with a wood grain stamp and some Rich Cocoa memento ink. Adhere to the left panel of the card base by applying adhesive to the left side of the front mat only. Now it is time to embellish the card.

I cut my ship out of black card stock at 2" using the My World Cricut Cartridge. I cut the ship's helm using a die from My Favorite Things, (these are a Cutters Creek special order item, just ask). To finish off the card I added my sentiment.

Birthday Girl with Mindy

My niece has a birthday coming up and I wanted to make a cute fun card for her. I cleaned off my Cricut and found mat with a little adhesive left on it and made a quick little card. I used the create a critter 2 cartridge for the little cat and an Imagine cartridge for the papers.

I attached this sweet little kitty with an action wobble to give it some movement. I also used some pink stickles for her nose and a little on her dress.  I hope my niece enjoys her card and her birthday.

Mardi Gras Time by Mindy

Ok, I know I'm a couple days late with this ( and a dollar or two short lol ), but I still wanted to share it.

I used a lot of cricut for this card. The mask, the jester's hat, and the sentiment all come from the Designer's Calendar cartridge.  I've never made a calendar with this cartridge, but it has some great extras on it. I colored my stamped image with Copic markers. I then added some stickles, sequins, and feathers to the mask to bling it up a little.  I also added some Mardi Gras beads to Tilda's hands. The purple paper behind the mask has been embossed with my Cuttlebug and sanded to bring out the detail more.  I thought the fleur de lis detail was perfect for this card.  This card is an easel card.  It will stand up when open, but closes flat.

Today I am showcasing a card I made using a few different cartridges and my Cricut machine. The card is for Valentine's Day but I got creative with the background and welded some different kinds of hearts together so the hearts are different sized and inside a square on one side and a circle on the other.

What Does the Fox Say? By Mindy

That is a very popular question lately and I think I've found the answer. I will reveal it at the end if the post.

I made a quick and easy Valentine's card using my Cricut, the Wild Card 2 cartridge, and some My Mind's Eye paper. I have to admit, that little fox is what sold me on this cartridge. 

I used some core'dinations cardstock for my base and sanded it to bring out the embossed design. I then cut the heart and the adorable little fix out of different patterned papers from the My Mind's Eye  6x6 pack. I finished the card off with some faux stitching and some googly eyes.

Now to answer everyone's question, what does the fox say?

Birthday Time With Mindy

As soon as the new year starts, so do the birthdays in my family. I always try to start on them early so they're ready to go when I need them.  

I made this card with some masculine papers from My Mind's Eye. 

The little elephant is from Create a Critter 2.  He's holding a couple of balloons attached with some floss. I can never find sentiment stamps when I need them, but I think it's pretty obvious this one is for a birthday.

12 Days of Christmas, Day 6 by Cindy

Today, I am sharing how I used non-traditional paper and paper pads to make some holiday cards. The paper I used is from Cutters Creek, as part of the 6x6 paper pad club. I also used some bling and tuxedo black memento ink. I also used a "candy cane" striped embossing folder. Be sure to watch the video to get the full recipe and see how it all gets put together.

Christmas card by Cindy

Hi everyone,

My project today, uses a new Anna Griffin paper pad Yuletide Greetings that I got as part of the 6x6 paper pad club.

My die cut is from Create a Critter 2 but I only cut the one layer for the wreath. My sentiment is stamped in white pigment ink. So simple but I think that it will make a very nice Christmas card. To get the products that I used today, be sure to visit the Cutters Creek store.


 

Getting Organized (and a little washi tape)

While watching a ton of videos about how to organize my scrapbook room, I came across several videos about Filofaxes. I started watching them and decided it would be a good thing for me to try. My purse is always full of notes I write at work and they're always getting lost. I have a calendar in my purse,but it's not big enough to hold everything I need.  A filofax founded like the perfect solution.

In the videos people were decorating their planner pages and they looked adorable.  One of the main things they used to decorate is washi tape.  I just joined the Cutters Creek monthly washi tape club , so the timing was perfect. I used some washi and a few of my other scrapbooking supplies to start personalizing  my filofax.  I just started so it's still pretty lame compared to others I've seen, but I think I'll get there.  

Here is a video showing how I used my supplies in my filofax to help get you started. Now, filofax is just one brand of planner, you can use these techniques with any planner you have, you can even print out some of your own pages to use. For me, gettting organized is a must, but using all the supplies I already have to make getting organized cute and fun is a total bonus. Paperbag Tag Mini Album by Cindy

Hi everyone,

I have a project to share that is just plain fun. I am a practical crafter. It's really hard for me to just craft and not have a plan on what I'm going to do with the finished project. I recently purchased some Prima doll stamps and tag pad and made some really fun tags using washi tape and lots of bling and flowers from my stash. I used paper pads from Cutters Creek 6x6 paper pad club to paper piece the doll dresses (Authentique Remembrance and Echo Park For the Record 2 Documented.

 The doll stamps are quite large, about 7 inches long and they were so pretty but what to do with them? I watched a tutorial on a Paperbag Tag album from Live with Prima. I decided that it would be a great way to scrapbook my daughter's dance year and also include my fun tags! I used a 12x12 paper pad from my stash as well as the Authentique Remembrance paper pad. The closure is a Basic Grey magnet that I received in the Cutters Creek adhesive club. Other products I used include Scor-tape, ATG, Rosa Anna Griffin embossing folder, stickles, copic markers and my Cricut.

I also made my own crinkle ribbon using seam binding and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in pomegranate.

It's so much easier to show you my project in a video so I have all of the details in there.

Thinking of You Card by Jearise

I joined one of Kim's 6 x 6 paper pad clubs and I have to say that the paper we get each month is AWESOME and so much fun to play with and with that being said I will show you the card I made using the 6 x 6 "The Sweetest Thing" pad from My Minds Eye.

As I flipped though the pad I found the background paper for this card and I utilized both sides for the background of the card. I just flipped over the strip of paper I had left over and ran it through my Cuddlebug to emboss it. The numbers came from another page from the book and when I saw the "1" with the "One of a Kind" saying I knew I had to use it. I was going to stamp "Thinking of You" but this is so much better.

I wanted to add a splash of color and really like the way the yellow and pink worked together. Who would have guessed? I took one of my paper roses and spritzed it with my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in pink. Here is a close up so you can see the glimmer.

For this card I used the 6x6 paper pad Authentique Renew and the Anna Griffin embossing folder Matellase. My girl was cut from the Playtime Cricut cartridge and I used the Simple Sallies Peachy Keen Stamps for her face. She was attached to the card using clear foam adhesive squares.

Hawaii Album by Cindy

Hi everyone, Today, is my day for the Cutters Creek Design Team blog post. My project today is dear to my heart, it's my family scrapbook for our summer vacation to Hawaii. I used the tutorial from Enchanted Scrapper on YouTube.

 

I used Tropical Travelogue from Graphic 45 which is retired but the new Bohemian Bazaar would make a fabulous travel album too. Some of the other products I used include stickles, scor tape (lots of scor-tape!), the Mickey Mouse and Friends and Font cartridge, Robotz, Artiste and Elegant Edges cartridges and flowers. All of these products and many similar ones can be found in the Cutters Creek store.

Today I am sharing my Cutter's Creek Design Team project. Kim, the owner of Cutter's Creek store has a Yahoo Store Group. She offers all different types of clubs for her customers. There are adhesive clubs, embossing clubs, ink pad clubs. I joined the most recent clubs, 6x6 paper pad club and the Anna Griffin Cuttlebug folder club. This month I recieved the 6x6 paper pads This and That and For the Record 2 by Echo Park. I also received the Anna Griffin cuttlebug folders Foundry and Mayfair Floral. These folders are absolutely gorgeous. I thought that it would be fun to create a project using all of my new goodies.



I used the Art Philopsophy Cricut Cartridge for the flower. I cut is at 2.0, 1.75, 1.5, inked the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink and attached it with a brad. Be sure to email Kim if you are interested in any of these products or visit the store for other products.

4th of July Tag by Michele

Hello everyone, hope your weekend is off to a great start.  For my project this week I decided to do a tag.  I used Tim Holtz & Ranger distress paper by Core'dinations , the colors are barn door and faded jeans and the tag was some red cardstock stash I had.  I cut out the tag(6inch) using Tags, Bags, Boxes and More with my cricut.







  The stars, firecrackers and flags I used from Lifestyle Crafts(Quickutzs), die cuts. I used some red ribbon from my stash to attach to the top.

I think I am going to hang it on my door so when people come up they will see it.

A Shirt Box for Dad

 Since Father's Day is about a week away,  I decided to make something different than a card. I made a shirt box for my dad. The products I used were from my stash at home.

 I made this by using the Cricut cartridge Tags, Bags, Boxes and more 2.  I used some white card stock as my base.

 Next, for the tie and pocket I used paper from a 6x6 paper pad Little Sport by Heidi Larsen.  Then I used a black pen and made lines all around the shirt.   The box is small (2x2 1/4) , so I put in some wrapped candy that he likes. So, I hope liked my little shirt box as a small gift for Father's Day.

Father's Day project by Cindy

Hi everyone,
The Cutters Creek Design team is making masculine projects this week and today I am sharing my project. I really wanted to make something for my husband and my dad but I didn't want anything to crazy since we will be on vacation on Father's Day. So I came up with a card and a gift all in one! I used mucho scraps to make this little book. I used my Bind-it-all and the Dilly Dally paper from My Mind's Eye along with cardstock from SU. The size is 5x7.



For my image, I used the Father's Day cartridge for the motorcycle and the DAD was cut from Create a Critter 2, I think that it was part of the trophy image?

I then found an image of a present, made it big enough to see and then printed it out and attached it to some cardstock. My son doesn't look super thrilled at all, does he?

Then I printed a picture of my Lily holding a heart picture that I found on the Internet. She is always to ready to pose for the camera, messy hair and all.

Then I printed out Happy Father's Day and cut out the words and mounted them on cardstock and took a picture of my kids holding the signs.

I then used my brand new We R Memory Keepers envelope board and made a cute envelope. It stays closed with velcros. I plan on having the kids write a little note that I will tuck inside. Then these books will get packed in my suitcase until Father's Day. There is a learning curve to using this board but I think its a phenomenal tool. 

Here is the version for their Grandpa. I used the Robotz cartridge for the lettering and the chair was cut from the Father's Day cartridge. My dad has a recliner that is "his" its remote control. As soon as my dad gets up, my kids all run over and sit in his chair. They think its hilarious to steal Grandpa's chair.

I did make a video for you so that you can see everything a bit clearer and you get to see the envelope board in action.

Welcome to the start of Masculine Week here at the Cutters Creek Design Team Blog.

We know that for many of you making masculine cards can be difficult. So we wanted to help you all out by offering up a full week of ideas, just in time for Father's Day. So be sure to stop by each day this week to see all of the Design Teams inspiration.

For my card today I have a Kraft card stock base cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card. I added a dark blue mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4". I added a patterned paper mat cut at 3 1/2" X 4 3/4". I did this so I had more of the dark blue showing.

My image is cut using the Suburbia Cricut Cartridge at 4". (Check with Kim, she can order it for you. It has some great silhouette images on it of men, women, and children. Kim can be contacted through the store here. Be sure to browse around while visiting the store.) The rug is a Silhouette cut that was cut at approximately 3 1/4".

I used Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive to put my cuts together. I really like using this adhesive for things like this because it gives you a few seconds to get your cut layers lined up. It is awesome adhesive if you haven't tried it yet. My sentiment is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I adhere the rug to the card front with the Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive. The other man in the chair and the sentiment are attached with foam tape.

My blue mat and the base layer of the man are cut from some Tim Holtz Core' denations kraft core card stock. I know Kim can get this for you because she ordered it for me.

The patterned paper I used for the background and the rug are all from a 6 X 6 paper pack by Fancy Pants called Swagger. Its a great pack for masculine card. Kim doesn't carry this but can special order it for you, just ask.

I chose this image because it reminded me of my grandfather. I remember when I was a child visiting my grandparent. Grandpa would come home at night and sit down in his chair in the living room and read the paper. I have a lot of happy memories about my grandparents.

Graduation Card by Cindy

Hello, Today, is my turn to post a project for the Cutter's Creek Design Team blog. I received my first commission to make some cards for a colleague. She wanted 25 Graduation cards. I wanted them to be pretty but still simple enough to do a large amount of them. This is what I came up with:



I used the swiss dots embossing folder on white cardstock. The sentiment is from my stash. I used my Nate's ABC's cartridge to cut out the numbers and the hat was cut at 2.0 inches from the Wrap it Up cartridge. I used burgundy stickles on the tassle. I attached the hat using foam dots. If you are going to make multiple copies of a card, the assembly line method works very well. I cut out all of my pieces using my cricut. Stamped the sentiment and then ran my card through my Cuttlebug. The last thing that I did was adhere all of the pieces to my card.
