Mandie's Brew Crew Layout

Today I have a layout that I created using my FAVORITE Echo Park Paper Collection - Happy Days! I am in love with the vintage flavor that these papers have.


I started with a Kraft Cardstock base and used 5" x 5" squares of the Happy Days paper for my background. Then I simply mounted all of my photos (2 - 4" x 5", 1 = 4" x 6") to a couple of cardstock strips and lined them up on my paper. (Note - the only change I would have made would have been to not line this up right in the middle, I had to cut my daughters face in the photo). I used my Pink ATG to adhere every thing. Then I cut the title "Brew Crew" from the Nifty Fifties Cricut Cartridge and ran the letters through my Xyron 150 to add the adhesive. It's a quick and easy way to add your adhesive and there's no mess! I used the stickers in the Happy Days kit to spell out my other words and then added a few embellishments from my stash with Glue Dots. Finally I added my journaling with the Inkssentials White Pen. I'm really happy with how this layout turned out, but Echo Park's gorgeous papers make it easy to create works of art!

The Greeting Farm Stamps with Mandie

So Kim and I are back from CHA and sort of back to normal now... it's hard to believe how being gone for a week can throw you off so much! (See my note at the end of the post regarding Tutorial Tuesday.) It was so amazing to see all of the new products! I'm so happy that Kim decided to add The Greeting Farm stamps to the Cutters Creek store. They are made from high quality, deep-etched, red rubber for wonderful impression every time! They are also mounted on gray cling cushion. All you have to do is trim and use with acrylic blocks. I have two cards that I created with these images. I used some of my favorite Echo Park Paper scraps (and one piece of patterned cardstock from my stash) on both of these cards.


The first card I used the Cheeky Shooter stamp from The Greeting Farm! When we saw the Cheeky Cherry Collection we were both super excited! These stamps are great to color and they stamp beautifully! I hope you guys love these images as much as I do! I used my Flesh Toned (E000, E00, E11 and R20) Copics for her skin and my Bic Mark-It's and Tombow Markers for the rest.


Then I accented the gun, star on the boots, studs on the belt and her eyelids with my Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust Pure Glitter Pen. After she was all beautifully colored just the way I wanted I grabbed my oval cutter... and realized that I need to get a set of the Spellbinder Ovals, LOL! So I inked up the edges of my oval with a little Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain to disguise the imperfections... The outer oval I actually just colored with the same marker I used on the cowgirl hat.


Then I used some Pop Up Glue Dots to lift my ovals off the card. The only other addition I made was a piece of brown felt ric rac adhered with some Scor Tape. Oh, and I should mention I used my Pink ATG to adhere everything else on both of my cards! I am sooooo happy that I broke down and bought one. I have loved using it!

The second card uses the Because Of You sentiment set from The Greeting Farm. When I saw the "I like you more than puppies" phrase on there I BEGGED Kim to add this set to the store! The other phrases on this set are: Today is Brighter because of You, It Doesn't Get Much Better than This, Everyone Needs a Friend Like You, You're the Rainbow After the Storm, Life Would be Boring without You, and You Twinkle More than Stars. What a great multi-purpose set!

And at only $14.99 - what a STEAL! I'm sounding like a serious commercial right now, LOL! But I'm super excited about this set. The little girl I used is from the "Roll Call" set which isn't currently in the store BUT I'm sure if you ask nice, Kim could look into getting it. The set comes with 8 of the characters plus a set of phrases and retails for $48.00. I used my Flesh Toned (E00, E11 and R20) Copics for her skin and my Bic Mark-It's for the rest.


I added the Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust Pure Glitter Pen to her shoes, shirt and bows and a little for eyeshadow. Then I added one of the Color Me Crazy flowers with a corduroy yellow brad for the center.

Little Fishies Layout by Chris

As many of you know I have been trying to catch up on my LOs and I am almost there. This LO is a day that all 5 grandkids (and their parents) were over. What fun! I started with 5 pictures (3 are 2x3 and 2 are 3x5) and a 12x12 primary color blue sheet. I cut two strips from a 12x12 pale green sheet: one 3x12 and one 4x12. Using my ATG, I glued the thinner sheet along the top and the 4x12 strip along the bottom of the blue base sheet and glued the smaller pictures on the top strip. I mounted the 3x5 pictures on a 3.25 x 5.25 rectangle before adhering to the bottom strip.

I then took the Cricut cartridge Life is a Beach and cut 3 sets of the fish border (p. 53 of the handbook). I set my expression on fit to length and chose a 3” length. The machine then cut it out with a width of 1 ¾ inches. I used a spray adhesive to mount the borders under each small picture. To tie the three pictures together I used Plantin Schoolbook’s zigzag (p. 70 in the handbook) and again used my fit to length key. This time I set the length to 2 ½ inches, which cut each strip to a .5 width. I made 7 of these. To get a 12-inch strip I overlapped the ends and glued them together; then glued the length over the top edge of the photos, trimming away the excess. Using George and Basic Shapes, I cut a 1 ½ inch circle from yellow, wrote the date using my Sakura Glaze pens and adhered between the photos.

I made my title (5 Little Fishies) in SCAL using a free font call Gentle Redhead and cut the shadow from the same yellow as the fish and the letters from the same color as the base paper. (I’ve attached the scut if you care to use it.) For the part “swimming in my pool” I used a trick a friend shared with me, and a yellow marker. Just draw two lines—I tried to make mine wavy like water—and write, making all letters touch both the top and bottom lines. I think it is a cool effect for journaling. What about you?

Finally I had to add some glitz so out came my stickles and I highlighted the number 5. Still not satisfied I dug in my stash and found some clear sequins. I used these to add a few more bubbles, which I attached with Glue Dots vellum glue.

Christmas in July/August Chipboard Book by Chris P.

Here’s a simple project using Bo Bunny word books, left over wrapping paper, and stickles. I covered the word BELIEVE with several different Christmas wrapping papers and some red mulberry paper I had in my scrap bin. I also had some leftover strips of the AC glitter paper and cut them to back each page. I then used my fingertip craft knife to trim around the letters, sprayed all the pages using gold glimmer mist, and then inked all the edges, using Tim Holtz’s Barn Door Distress Ink and Ink foam applicator.

I made and matted cardstock photomats for each page. To give them a bit more of a finished look I tied ribbon around some and added several photo corners from the Storybook cartridge. I used my cricut markers to outline them at 1 and 1.25 inches and then cut. Next I rubbed each into the versamark inkpad and heated using clear embossing ink to give them some dimension and shine.

It needed some more glitz so I used my silver stickles to outline silver stars, the Christmas red to decorate the tree, pickett fence to outline the snowflakes and added two cardstock snowflakes with a clear Twinkle Jewel in each center. I used my Crop-a-Dile punch and 3 snowflake eyelets to finish off the front page. I had some leftover stickers that I randomly placed and, then, tied bits of ribbon here and there on the letters along with 3 larger bows on the metal rings. Now I have a stocking gift for one of my DDILs. I have never been this prepared before. I just hope I remember where I hide it when putting out the gifts in December—LOL.

Oriental Weave All Occassion Card by Chris

Here’s my second project with another Cuttlebug embossing folder. This time I used the bamboo shoots from the Oriental Weave set. I started out thinking this would be a thank you card (and it still could), but I decided to leave the inside blank. Sometimes I just need a card with a quote that just speaks to me at the moment. When I came across the Kahlil Gibran saying on the internet, I knew I wanted to use it and felt it was perfect with the serenity of the bamboo.


I used Core’dinations again (I just love the two for one colors of these papers), ran a 5x7 piece through my cuttlebug and then sanded the image. I used SCAL and my gelpens to write the sentiment. I kept fiddling with how to put the saying on the card. Initially, I was using green Core’dinations paper and I tried using my gel pens right on the Core’dinations, but it didn’t show up enough. I tried a rectangular piece of cardstock on top of the Core’dinations and didn’t like that either when a brainstorm struck. I used my Deckled Small Rectangles and reverse cut the leaves of the bamboo so they would spill over the opening, which would frame the sentiment. To cut the leaves I used my Fiskars fingertip control knife and the healing cutting mat on my ScorPal; then I wedged the deckle nestability under the leaves (cutting edge facing away from them) and ran through my cuttlebug.

The sentiment was “cut” on green copier paper. I glued the embossed cardstock over the sentiment and trimmed the paper. Next I cut white cardstock 10x7, scored at 5 inches and inked the edges (inside and out) and the fold line with Weathered Wood distress ink. All that was left to do was mount the card front with my ATG, stamp the back of the card with one of Image Tree’s “made bys” and glued a 6.5x9.5 piece of beige copier paper into the card. Not necessary, but I just feel this gives a more finished look to some cards.

I have several embossing folders and hardly ever use them. So, I challenged myself to put them to good use on upcoming projects. Here I’ve made a birthday card for my DIL, using the cherry blossoms from the Plum Blossom set.

I love to work with smaller A2 cards so put my A2 template down. Using my planning template, I pulled out my scraps and started laying pieces until I found a combination I liked--Core’dinations and a floral print. (I keep handy a set of white cardstock cut to different card sizes (just the front—4.25x5.5, 4x4, 5x7,etc) to use as planning templates when laying out a card. I just find this an easy way to fiddle around and not worry about marking up the final card base.) I cut the floral scrap to 2x4.25 and the Core’dinations to 3x4.25. I ran the Core’dinations through my Cuttlebug and sanded. Using my ATG, I glued the pieces next to each other on a white card base.

Digging into my ribbon stash, I found a quarter inch ecru ribbon, which I adhered with ScorTape. The card was looking a bit too blah for me, so I pulled out my various cricut cartridges and searched for a flower that would set off the embossed side and repeat the image of the cherry blossom. I found it on the Home Décor cartridge and cut it out of a pink scrap at 2.5 inches.

I found the sentiment on the internet and then decided to use SCAL and gelpens to write it on Prism Ivory cardstock. I then used Labels 10 Nestabilities to cut around the sentiment and make a shadow of it. I then edged the labels using the cricut color markers and mounted the sentiment with popup dots on the shadow and the whole label over the ribbon. An Asian all occasion card—wow, just imagine the possibilities.
